Helping with the Covid-19 Response

by Mike Haydon

These are the non-profits that keep coming up.We are facing the global challenge of our lifetimes with the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic. The last globally significant pandemic was the 1918 “Spanish Flu,” which was part of our great grandparents’ generation (CDC).

With the coronavirus pandemic affecting every state in the US and beyond – an inundation of our medical system, closure of main street America, and mass closure of schools and businesses has put a strain on us all in one way or another.

Here at The Sourcery, we’re busy figuring out ways we can help the greater community and beyond in this time of crisis.

After connecting with clients and candidates, we found not only is everyone concerned about what’s being done, but they want to know who’s doing what and where.

These are the non-profits that keep coming up:

  • American Red Cross:
Our healthcare system is being taxed right now, and blood drives have been cancelled in the wake of the pandemic. Yet we’re now facing a blood shortage. Please make an appointment or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to find a local site.
  • CDP Covid-19 Response:
Center for Disaster allocates efforts towards areas identified to have the highest assistance and impact during a crisis. Areas of emphasis right now are helping healthcare workers; purchasing and distributing masks, gowns, gloves, and other PPE; and funding hygiene promotion campaigns.
  • Direct Relief:
Works with doctors and nurses to provide life-saving medical resources. They are currently delivering masks, exam gloves, isolation gowns, and more to areas affected by covid-19 cases.
  • Meals on Wheels:
Ensuring our most vulnerable population remains fed and strong during this crisis. Donations will also bolster tech-based methods to check-in on at-risk elderly.
  • No Kid Hungry:
With schools closed, they are deploying funds so children can continue to receive free meals. They’re also focused on making sure families know how to access free meals while schools are closed.

We are also diligently doing our part with the above organizations where we can, while continuing to stay home and keep with best practices for hygiene and social distancing.

Together, with the help of each other, we will be able to weather these turbulent times.

On behalf of everyone here at The Sourcery, we hope you stay strong, healthy, optimistic, and safe.

“The Sourcery is always there when we need them. They can scale up or down in response to demand. The Sourcery doesn’t take a success fee. We only talk to pre-screened candidates who fit what we’re looking for.”

“We knew we needed help. We decided we might as well try this recruiting thing. We were able to hire a string of engineers in a very short time. The Sourcery took a ton off our plates immediately. Like In-House Recruiters, but better... It's hard to juggle the work to build the product and hit the milestones while also managing the hiring process.”

“They Made Me a Better Recruiter. Over the years, I’ve placed more than 20 software engineers through The Sourcery. They do a fantastic job of minimizing hiring overhead. I was okay at recruiting before I met them. Now I actually consider myself a pretty good recruiter.”
